UK Sheet Piling Contractor
Sheet Piling
Sheet piling involves the installation of interlocking steel sheets to form a continuous barrier in the ground. This technique is commonly used for retaining walls, waterfront structures, and flood defense systems, providing excellent durability and stability.

Sheet Piling Specialists
Our sheet Piling process is fairly simple.
- Firstly, we will work to provide a thorough analysis of the project in the preconstruction estimating phase. We will also set project expectations.
- Next, an architect or engineer will be involved to create the necessary plans and specifications.
- Then, a construction management contract will be drawn up and the client will secure the services of a construction manager to work with the design team.

FAQs
1) What is sheet piling and when should it be used?
Sheet piling uses interlocking steel sheets driven into the ground to create a continuous wall. It’s ideal for temporary or permanent retaining walls, basement excavations, cofferdams, riverbank protection and boundary works—especially where space is tight and excavation support is essential.
2) How is sheet piling installed (and how noisy is it)?
We typically install sheets with a vibratory hammer for speed and reduced noise, switching to an impact hammer if hard layers are encountered. On sensitive sites we can use silent pressing methods to minimise vibration. We plan works to meet local noise/vibration limits and can implement real-time monitoring where required.
3) Can sheet pile walls be permanent and how are they finished?
Yes. Permanent walls use appropriate steel grades, corrosion protection (coatings, sacrificial thickness, or cathodic protection) and drainage details. Exposed faces can be capped, clad, or tied back; below-ground faces can receive membranes or spray waterproofing as part of basement construction.
4) Do I need tie-backs or anchors, and how is the wall designed?
Wall stability is designed to Eurocode/BS guidance (e.g., BS EN 1997 / BS 8002 principles), factoring soil conditions, surcharge loads and groundwater. Depending on depth and loads, we may use cantilever designs, propping, or ground anchors/tie-backs. We provide full design calcs, temporary works drawings and as-built records.
5) What affects programme and cost?
Key drivers are wall length/height, sheet profile/grade, ground conditions (obstructions, groundwater), access for rigs, vibration constraints, and whether the wall is temporary or permanent. Additional items – capping beams, anchors, monitoring, dewatering and disposal – also influence budgets. After reviewing drawings and any site investigation, we’ll provide a transparent fixed quotation and programme; many smaller schemes install in days, not weeks.
